[cross-project-issues-dev] Heads up - new MPC version

Hi everybody,

I'm the new committer on the Marketplace Client project and I'm looking
forward to working on it and with all of you for at least Kepler and the
following service releases. This is my first ride on the release train and
I've only just jumped on, so please be patient with me ;)

My first order of business is to let you know that MPC will update its
contribution to Kepler M6 from 1.1.1 to 1.2.0.


For MPC 1.2, a couple of bugs have been fixed, but the more important
changes are regarding user experience:

- It should be clearer now, that you can select more than one solution at a
time (bug 337774)
- Install counts and star ratings are shown (bug 323259)

And last but not least
- A News tab has been added that will show the latest and greatest from
eclipse.org (or your 3rd-party marketplace) (bug 401721).


No public API was changed (what little there is). The internal API contains
one breaking change in org.eclipse.epp.mpc.core that might hit 3rd-party
extenders: a method has been added to the class
org.eclipse.epp.internal.mpc.core.service.MarketplaceService for the new
News REST API.


I'm sorry for the late notification, but since no other project on the train
seems to have code dependencies on the MPC bits I hope that it won't be a
problem. I'll update the aggregation files and project plan later today.
