IDE nerds have to step in and do what they need.

It's not abandoning rules of fair play. e4-RCP folks care about their use cases and they do it, noone steps in to do the 3.x work so 4.x becomes the primarty. It's simple. Quick example, we need SWT on top of GTK 3 so we step in and contribute patches or it would not happen, but that doesn't mean we have to do the win32/cocoa work too.

The only truth is "Someone must do the job, if there isn't anyone it will never be done".
