Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] deploying snapshot builds from hudson.e.o to oss.sonatype.org
|
I just checked with the folks at Sonatype, and they have a standing offer of a free license for Nexus Pro, with no strings attached, for the Eclipse Foundation.
They have stated this in several times in various eclipse bugzilla issues, with no apparent takers.
This is an outstanding issue with the basic maven infrastructure at eclipse since 2009.
The Jetty project would love to use eclipse infrastructure for all things eclipse.
Our goal is to continue our support of the larger Jetty community of Jetty users and developers in a way that is equal to (or better) than we offered before before we moved to Eclipse.
The maven infrastructure is critical for our success, it is not an option anymore.
Please reconsider this offer from Sonatype for a free Nexus Pro license for the Eclipse Foundation.
Do I have anything against Standard Nexus? No, in fact, many of us in the Jetty community use it for proxying remote repositories to a location local to our house / office (helps speed up builds). Also, the function of release artifact staging is present at all open source maven forges (apache, codehaus, jboss,
java.net, exo, and others), this is not a special / rare feature, it is now pretty much a de-facto feature of a solid bi-directional artifact repository.

Darn. That means we can't use it. We avoid using proprietary tools in our shared development infrastructure.

Can anyone on this list advise as to whether the most recent open source version of Nexus supports this staging feature?
Sonatype's comparison chart shows that it's a feature of the professional version only:
