Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Its not too late to improve Galileo Discovery Site?

Sounds like something a test team would have picked up earlier, if we had one...

Many people have incorrect URLs in the discovery/update URLs in their
feature.xml.

I am not asking anyone to risk breaking anything ... but, in many cases,
it should be an easy fix, for fairly large benefit.

Even when all the current ones are fixed up, the list will probably be too
long to be easily usable, and long term, we'll need some innovation to
improve the whole list, but fixing the duplicates and obvious incorrect
ones will be a start.

And, I wouldn't complain if some of you wanted to simply omit your URL
from your feature.xml file (and therefore not on Galileo Discover site
discovered list of "available software". If, for example, your update site
is exactly equal to the Galileo update site, and your are pretty certain
you would not have any off-cycle service updates, then there's little
reason to have it in the list of available software, automatically
discovered from Galileo. But some projects, such as webtools, do provide
things at their update site that by design are not on the Galileo site
(such as SDK/source features). And, sadly, webtools has had occasion to
provide "hot fixes" before the next scheduled simultaneous service
release.

Feel free to discuss specific issues/questions in the bugzilla.

Thanks,
