[cross-project-issues-dev] Perhaps a silly question... Perhaps a bug. Probably in the wrong venue.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why I have to download emf and other features when all I want to do is uninstall 1 isolated feature that I installed independently of the primary Galileo install?

It seems like update is setup so it HAS to install the latest features before it will do anything (or at least download a catalog or something). I don't know about everyone else, but to me this is a bug. I really dislike software deciding I mean C, when I ask it to do A.

Using RC1, JEE bundle. Installed EclipseLink JPA, now trying to uninstall EclipseLink JPA (to avoid a full update to RC2 when I install JPA again).

It appears that several things are occurring that are a) non-intuitive and b) undesirable 1) to uninstall locally installed software I must have an internet connection. 2) doing anything with update seems to force an update to the latest features (even if it throws it away afterward this is undesirable).
3) I am not asked if I want to download these files.
4) I am not prompted, to access the net (uninstalling something locally should not kill my network bandwidth). 5) I am not informed what it is doing, and why (at least not as explicitly as I'd like).

While writing this it did complete, and asked to restart. After restarting, I find that I have been updated from JPA 1.1.2.v20090526-r4309 to JPA 1.1.2.v20090601-r4378 (RC3 candidate). ie. I was not allowed to uninstall at all, rather it updated me. Not what I was expecting, or asked for.
