Greetings,
Some projects have expressed an interest in performing some
milestone/version clean-up and maintenance.
Bugzilla is fairty picky about what we do with the SQL backend without
its knowledge, so to avoid irritating it while avoiding massive mail
bombs, here is the best way to do this type of maintenance:
1. Prepare your new milestones and versions
2. Prepare "Change Multiple Bugs At Once" queries. Don't hit commit
yet.
3. Ask webmaster to disable bugmail. Commit your changes.
4. Webmaster re-enables bugmail. You/we then remove values that are no
longer used.
Disabling Bugmail is a global setting, meaning no bugzilla mail will go
out while it on. In order to make this as painless as possible for
everyone, I'm declaring
Wednesday, August 13/2008 from 13:00 - 13:30 ET
as a first ever mail-free maintenance window for projects. I will add
a visible message on Bugzilla's pages shortly to alert everyone of this.
Thanks!
