Failure of
birt.sc has been fixed.
According to
the latest build log (http://build.eclipse.org/ganymede/recent/2008_150_02_17_31//index.html
), BIRT features have been mirrored successfully, though the whole build
process failed again…
Thanks,

Subject: Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Ganymede build failed -
stp.scexcluded - and an explaination
Maybe it's my
imagination, but I think I can hear Oisin exclaiming "what, I didn't
change anything, how could it be failing now!?" .. so, thought I'd explain
how that can happen.
(I don't really
know for sure that's what has happened here ... but, pretty likely. )
One of the
things I do occasionally is "delete the ganymede cache", to get rid
of the hundreds of plugins and jars that are no longer needed or used.
If I do not
delete the cache, then when ganymede runs, it doesn't _have_ to get everything
from the original site, if it determines it already has them. So, they could
have
been removed
from the original site, and the Ganymatic would never know ... until, that is,
someone comes along and deletes the cache, hence causing a re-fetch which
can cause a
failure, even though nothing in the SC file changed.
In truth, I
want to delete the cache on our production machine every build (see bug 231727)
but a couple of issues have prevented that ... and, I think I am seeing those
issues fixed, so may start up that policy soon.
(On production
machine, build.eclipse.org, since there is little network time, it increases
that part of the build from like 5 minutes, to 15 minutes ... on a remote
system (cable connection) it can take hours to download everything, so there a
cache makes more sense).
So .. bottom
line, be sure your Ganymede referred-to site stays correct and current for what
is in your SC file.
Now that we
have one successful, and _fresh_ build, I'll remove the excludes, so birt and
stp will likely fail once more.
Much thanks,
