+1 I agree as well. It really does seem best to strive for inclusiveness
by giving as many folks as possible the opportunity to be on the stick. Of
course there are arguments strongly in favor of doing what's best for the
recipients of the sticks too, but I don't see that the update site isn't a
good thing for them. I didn't quite get the 1.4 JVM thing. Many projects
need 5.0 to function...

+1 for the update site on the stick.
I think packages are the right direction for the future, but given that
they currently omit some Ganymede projects, I have to agree with Martin
and others that it's against the spirit of EclipseCon.
