Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Re: [eclipse.org-planning-council] Europa maintenance

For the +2 teams, being from TPTP as a +2 component, I think we would find
it useful in meeting the deadline of noon tomorrow if the +0 and +1 could
drop their components and post to the mailing list a confirmation and link
to the release driver. This would allow us the opportunity to build against
and test our release drivers before the deadline. +2 components could also
do the same as some +2 components may depend on the same information to
complete their driver against another +2 component. This would help clarify
which drivers have been completed according to the release schedule at the
+0, +1 and +2 levels.

TPTP will be dropping a driver tonight and plan to drop another tomorrow
with a minor fix plus testing hopefully against our +2 final dependencies
of BIRT and WTP.

Just to clarify, has everyone agreed to the plan to have all projects push
their content to the servers at Thursday noon EDT as the Nick suggested?
So am I to assume that the the synchronization between the server nodes
will be frozen before noon - what time? A confirmation from the Eclipse
foundation would be appreciated :-)

In the past, making a release available without mirror replication has
caused the servers and webmasters to overheat so I'd like to avoid that.

If last year is any indication of how this year will go, trying to do
all the promotes on Friday at the same time everyone starts
downloading the Fall Maintenance bits will be madness -- maxed
bandwidth, broken uploads, broken downloads, frustrated users, etc.

Can we implement a Thursday cutoff for mirror synching like we did in
June? That is, +2 projects will have their final bits on the server by
noonish on Thu, so that there's 24hrs for mirror replication before
the public release on Friday.

Are +2 projects ok with losing a day from the schedule?

If so, we should also update the Winter Maintenance schedule to do the
same.
