The main download page is not the only source for downloads. There are
also downloads via update manager and from individual project pages.
In the past, having a new release available only on eclipse.org and not
any mirrors has overloaded the servers and frustrated users who are
unable download in a timely fashion. I presume this is still a concern?
Therefore, as a courtesy, I'm asking when the servers will be frozen so
we can push our content up to eclipse.org, and allow the mirrors to
synchronize. Will it be 10 am EDT, tomorrow? 11am?
It seems this same question comes up every regular and maintenance
coordinated release. In the future, it would be nice to have a plan in
advance so everyone is on the same page :-)

Kim et al,
Denis and I spoke about this yesterday. Once the mirrors have
replicated the bits then I’ll make sure the download page gets updated
with the new packages.

Just to clarify, has everyone agreed to the plan to have all projects
push their content to the servers at Thursday noon EDT as the Nick
suggested? So am I to assume that the the synchronization between the
server nodes will be frozen before noon - what time? A confirmation
from the Eclipse foundation would be appreciated :-)
In the past, making a release available without mirror replication has
caused the servers and webmasters to overheat so I'd like to avoid that.

Europa maintenance
If last year is any indication of how this year will go, trying to do
all the promotes on Friday at the same time everyone starts
downloading the Fall Maintenance bits will be madness -- maxed
bandwidth, broken uploads, broken downloads, frustrated users, etc.
Can we implement a Thursday cutoff for mirror synching like we did in
June? That is, +2 projects will have their final bits on the server by
noonish on Thu, so that there's 24hrs for mirror replication before
the public release on Friday.
Are +2 projects ok with losing a day from the schedule?
If so, we should also update the Winter Maintenance schedule to do the same.
