RE: [cross-project-issues-dev] Re: CDT on Callisto staging -- cur rent status

Thanks Doug .. that's definitely not a "random network error". I may have misunderstood some notes John Graham sent me this morning .. (or was it last night?) ... And since he didn't respond in the 5 seconds since I've sent him mail .. I'll try "reverting" to previous version of datatools feature, since it was installing yesterday.

Thanks for the detail.

According to my log file I’m getting:

!MESSAGE Error retrieving "plugins/org.eclipse.datatools.sqltools.editor.core_0.7.0.200602242.jar". [Server returned HTTP response code: "404 Not Found" for URL: http://download.eclipse.org/callisto/releases/plugins/org.eclipse.datatools.sqltools.editor.core_0.7.0.200602242.jar.]

Looking at the contents of the plugins directory, I see:

-rwxrwxr--+ 1 david_williams callistoadmin 49154 2006-03-07 03:27 org.eclipse.datatools.sqltools.editor.core_0.7.0.200602241.jar

Notice the subtle difference in the timestamp on this jar. This should give a clue as to what’s wrong.

Just to let everyone know what status is, I am trying to "move" to the /callisto/releases directory today, and we'll fix up GMF by end of day ...
but ... something seems amiss, either with infrastructure or update manager, since I too am often getting "not found" exceptions, or even "access not permitted" exceptions when
I try to test ... always on a different jar file, but then sometimes occasionally works.
I *think* this might be some consequence of mirroring being busy? Or .. just some other bug ... but, if you have
any particular bad experiences, you might add your comments to
127290 (or .. heck .. supply patch to fix 127290) :)

Otherwise ... I'll send another note when I'm done for day and ready to wash my hands :)

CDT on Callisto staging [RE: [cross-project-issues-dev] Callisto        staging Update Site readyfor testing ... sort of]

Doug,

Randy Smith here in TPTP-land… I’m the “bozo” who jumped the gun over in eclipse.cdt with the callisto/staging comment … my apologies!!

My reason for e-mailing is to find out if I’m doing something wrong, or if others are seeing what I am. I’m hammering on the TPTP people from within regarding David’s TPTP bugzilla (I agree, we have too much granularity), but in the process I tried a clean update just of CDT. Seeing as it is “standalone”, I expected things to work fine. However, after the jars download, I get an “Update operation failed.” message. Is this current known behavior? Or is there something aberrant in my setup? I’m trying to do things “clean” (Eclipse 3.2M5a, set proxies, then just update) as our customers will, so if it’s working for you… have you tried it clean??

Again my apologies for speaking too soon over in eclipse.cdt-land. I knew everyone was scrambling, and I didn’t want silence to make people think nothing was going on when actually things are bustling. And if my question is interfering with your progress, just ignore me… I’m used to it!

Oh, O.K. I was just looking for a way to reduce my workload. Since the CDT never ends up being forwards compatible with new Eclipse platform releases, I need to make a new update site for each one anyway. I was just going to use the Callisto site for that.
