Hi Everyone,
A reminder of today's cbi-dev call a little under an hour from now.
We'll be discussing tasks needed to achieve Juno packages based on the
CBI build version of the platform. We could really use your help to
make sure we have as complete a list as possible.
Somewhat off-topic, as you likely noticed, we're switching over to a new
conference call system based on Asterisk. This system allows incoming
calls from various land-line numbers around the world.
Thanks to Denis making a QoS change on our network, we've found the
audio quality is now excellent.
A routing issue was affecting incoming calls from our European phone
numbers earlier this week. We believe that issue is resolved based on
testing. Today's cbi-dev call is the biggest call since this was fixed
so it'll be an even better test.
For those so inclined, our system allows direct SIP (a popular VoIP
protocol) calls.
There are a number of SIP clients out there. My client of choice (on
Linux) is Twinkle. Since you'll be calling our conference system which
allows incoming SIP calls to anyone, you don't actually need to
authenticate against a SIP account. When setting up a profile in
twinkle, you can enter your email as your username, your domain as the
domain. Then you can call 420@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for cbi-dev calls and
the call is "free"[1] for you and the Eclipse Foundation.
Other clients often insist upon authenticating against some SIP service
somewhere. I'll make a recommendation for this by the next call.
We'll create a wiki page with instructions for those who want to call
into our conference system with SIP (or IAX2) soon.
[1] - you're obviously paying for internet access, power, computer
equipment... but the call itself does not involve a per minute charge
when you connect via. SIP or IAX2.
Cheers,
Andrew
