Maintenance Release Test Plan - 3.1.1 RC2

Goal

The goal of this test pass is to achieve full coverage of the SDK to get a good overall picture on the state of the build. A full day of testing is scheduled for Monday, September 26, 2005.

Here is a checklist of the things to verify during the test pass. Every tester should try to verify all of the items in this list.

• Verify the bugs fixed for 3.1.1.
• MultiEditor. Test that the multi editor works, preferrably in ways that Paul hasn't. There is a TiledEditor defined in org.eclipse.ui.tests, but this can only be opened programmatically as it stands right now. There is also a tiled editor example on the ottcvs1 server (available to employees at IBM's Queensview lab): org.eclipse.ui.examples.tilededitor. This example adds a "Tile Editor Test" action set which can be added to a perspective via the "Customize Perspective" dialog.
• Layout. Verify that the closeable and movable layout flags are respected for sticky views. Two test perspectives that can help are Standalone View DnD Perspective and UI Test Perspective for closable view.
• RCP Preferences. Create an RCP application with an intro using the new wizard. Export the RCP application, and run in it. Check that if the intro page is closed, this fact is remembered between runs.
