What is the game plan?

The Eclipse 2.1.3 maintenance release endgame involves building a series of release candidates leading to the official 2.1.3 release. By its nature, this maintenance release contains fixes to a small number of serious problems found in the 2.1.2 release. We make and verify each fix carefully, so that we do not need to tie up the entire development team in time-consuming test passes. The maintenance release endgame goes a little slower that the regular release endgame, so that everyone has a little more time to work with each release candidate. As always, we welcome help from the community with testing the release candidates. By default,  2.1.3 is supposed to work exactly like 2.1.2 except for the problems we intended to fix. All problems fixed in 2.1.3 are in the Eclipse bugzilla database and flagged with Target Milestone "2.1.3" (query bugzilla for the complete list of bugs fixed in 2.1.3). So we're most interested in identifying regressions where we've changed something that we did not intend to.

General announcements during the 2.1.3 endgame are posted to the platform-releng-dev@eclipse.org developer mailing list. Anyone participating in the endgame should be subscribed to this list, and should direct any general questions and comments about the process there as well.
Detailed Timeline
Wed. Feb. 25, 2004 - 14:00 EDT -- Eclipse 2.1.3 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) build

Test pass:

 Now through Mon. Mar. 1, 2004. This test pass is to verify all fixes and check for regressions. Each of the teams needs to perform basic tests to ensure that their component is functioning correctly. All teams should send their thumbs up to the developer mailing list by 17:00 EST Mon. Mar. 1. Serious problems should be reported to the developer mailing list immediately.
Wed. Mar. 3, 2004 - 14:00 EDT -- Eclipse 2.1.3 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) build

Test pass:

 Just a sanity check to verify fixes and check for regressions.
Wed. Mar. 10, 2004 - 14:00 EST -- Eclipse 2.1.3 Release Candidate 3 (RC3) build

Test pass:

 Just a sanity check to verify fixes and check for regressions.
Wed. Mar. 17, 2004 - Eclipse Release 2.1.3

Goals:

 Release 2.1.3 complete and available for download.
