[news.eclipse.tools] Re: GUI again
|
Awwwww, schucks ;) You're right, of course <g>
So, here's some news...
I've picked the name "Penumbra" for it. (The partial shadow cast by an
eclipse, as opposed to the total shadow called the "Umbra". Standing in the
Penumbra gives you a view of an eclipse with the sun slightly peeking out,
kinda like the Eclipse logo ;) I may change it, but so far, I like it...
GEF finally stabilized its API for 2.1. Over the past several months, I had
been getting quite discouraged as everytime I got the chance to sit down and
work on my builder, I'd spend most of the day playing catching with GEF.
Over the past few weeks I got the stable GEF and have been working on it
like crazy. I've got my model where I want it, and a good separation of
plugins so I'll be able to easily support AWT/Swing or SWT. (Heck, my
approach would let one use my builder to create non-Java GUIs with the right
plugin. I hadn't really throught about that until now...)
Anyway, so far it's actually fairly quick and will have many things in
common with VisualAge's VCE. (I've played with the WSAD VCE and I don't want
to take that approach.)
I upated the eclipse wiki page yesterday with a bit of news.
http://eclipsewiki.swiki.net/145 I'll eventually post a web site with
screen shots and so forth.
(After reading the wiki page), is there anything in particular that you'd
like to see in a builder?
