[news.eclipse.tools] Problems Running Eclipse?
|
Is this an appropriate place to ask about problems running the program? If
not, please indicate where I should ask...
I've used Eclipse quite happily under Windows. Now I'm trying to get started
under Linux, but I am experiencing a bit of a glitch.
When I try to run it, I get an error box saying that the VM exited with code
= 1.
It tells me it's using /usr/lib/java/bin/java to run it... it certainly
exists. So I'm wondering why it goes wrong?
But, I installed Java SDK 1.4.1, and that is installed to a different path
(even if the package had let me relocate it, I wouldn't have chosen the
above path anyway). This is what I want Eclipse to use.
I tried using Konqueror to search for where JAVA_HOME is defined, and it
hangs. I tried grep, and it seems to sit forever also, although I can quit
the console.
So I'm hoping someone can point me to what I have to do to get JAVA_HOME
defined as the Java directory I want, or otherwise how to tell Eclipse to
start up using the other Java directory...
Any help would be appreciated, I'm a dummy at Linux.
