[news.eclipse.tools] Re: Log Console

We use Ant do deploy builds of our application. Our build files contain several targets that generate quite a bit of log information. We found the link / connection between reporting in the log console view and Ant particularly useful for debugging purposes.

The interest in capturing console output was geared more toward Tomcat logs than Ant. Thanks for the bugzilla link.

Can you explain why you are bummed?

In general you can't capture the console output (to file or otherwise; see
http://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=23064).
With an Ant build you can use the -logfile <file> argument.

Yep, that's the one. I hadn't noticed that it was missing as I've been
using release 2.0.2 until moving to M5 yesterday. Bummer, this was a very
useful feature when viewing the contents of an Ant build target. Just out
of curiosity, do you know if the contents of the console written to the
filesystem during execution? Thanks,
