On my configuration, a p3 500 with 384 MB ram, 20 gb hd, 512M swap,
running RH 8, ( and my video card sux ) I"m incredibly impressed with the
performance difference between M4 and M5.
I have noticed, however, that the Sun JDK tends to run slower for me than
the comparable IBM JDK or Blackdown JDK, especially when it comes to
client applications.
From the other reports I've read, performance should generally be better
on the M5 builds. You might want to try a different JDK ( either the
Blackdown or IBM versions )
