Funny. What turned me off the first time is this statement found on the
homepage: "Eclipse is a kind of universal tool platform - an open extensible
IDE for anything and nothing in particular". I immediately thought "Oh God
no, not another meta-project set on re-inventing the world". Jack of all
trades, expert at none?

I'm a pragmatist, and all I need right now is a better Java IDE. Thankfully
a friend insisted I try it out.
