Multipage Editor and system editor

i have a tree view that on double click opens a multipage editor.
the problem is:
 if the file i want to open has a system default editor it will open the
system editor and not mine (such as in the case of \'.txt\' and notepad).

is there a way to stop that (without changing the extension)?
