[news.eclipse.tools] Re: Timescales to end of evaluation
|
Need a bit more clarification...
Here's what I think I understand the intent to be:
* Eclipse
+ open source framework
+ includes JDT (basic Java tooling)
+ Q: is this exactly what's at www.eclipse.org today?
+ Q: will anything be removed from what's at www.eclipse.org?
* WebSphere Studio Workbench (WSW)
+ commercial snapshot of Eclipse (to provide a stable version)
+ only acts as a base for other commercial tools
+ Q: does this add anything, or is it just a "shapshot of eclipse"?
* WebSphere Studio Site Developer (WSSD)
+ commercial extension to WSW
+ adds web page (HTML/DHTML) tools
+ Q: is servlet/jsp support added here?
+ Q: are XML tools here?
* WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD)
+ commercial extension to (WSSD)
+ adds web services, EJB and other server-side dev tooling
* WebSphere xxxxx Developer (?)
+ commercial extension to WSAD
+ (I think I heard some mention of another level sometime...)
+ adds high-end enterprise tooling, connectors, VAG?
Does this sound about right?
