[news.eclipse.tools] Re: What Linux distributions are being supported?
|
Steve,
Here is what we know.
At present the drops have been fully tested on RH 6.2 only. We have done
some preliminary testing on RH 7.1 and it seems to work OK. There are
problems that prevent it from working on the RH 7.2 beta - we hang on
startup when running on roswell (redhat beta 3 -- also known as 7.1.93). We
are working on this problem and hope to have it working on 7.2 sometime by
fall. We are going to change the drop pages to make a clearer statement
about what OS versions we think are really working.
At present we have not done much testing on other linux variants, although
others have tried it. There was a recent post indicating it was pretty
flashy on SuSe (7.1 I think).
You could try posting a note to the newsgroup asking about other people's
experiences on various linux variants.
Hope this helps. If you want to know the platforms for the IBM supported
versions of WSWB i.e. the IBM supported version of Eclipse... then best to
direct the question to wrkbench@xxxxxxxxxx or John Kellerman to get a
statement about supported platforms.
