| [news.eclipse.tools] Re: Workbench shutdown does not complete |
Aventail has caused local CVS installs to fail, the shutdown of certain VAJava/Gen code spins to fail, and other assorted silly things... Aventail does not have to be started to cause trouble - such fun.
To fix it we introduce the .exe files involved to Aventail and things usually get better.
Let me try introducing Aventail to the eclipse.exe and see what happens.
....time goes by....
Well - when I introduced the javaw.exe to Aventail - it
shuts down!!!
This is also true for the PDE based launch - the thread set in the
debugger terminates now too.
Let me go see if the others I know - that have this problem - also have
Aventail....
.... and they do or did - and those that do and do not have problems
have a more recent version (I have 3.23).
Case closed....
Thanks much.

Your previous trace seems to indicate that the socket.close() method hangs.
This is a native java method that the help system doesn't have much control
over. Have you replaced your default TCP/IP stack on your machine with
another version of Winsock or other TCP/IP libraries?"Pat McCarthy" <patmc@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message
