[news.eclipse.tools] combo not visible in rightmost column of table

I am using a table with a combo box cell editor in the rightmost column. 
The table touches the right edge of the viewer.  When the user clicks on a
cell in this column, the "drop down" button in the cell isn't visible
unless the view
or column is resized.  It appears that this happens because the length of
the strings in the combo are wider than the column.  

This is a big problem because users will not know that this field can be
used if the button isn't seen.  Any suggestions?

I can send a picture of the view on if it will make things clearer.
