One of the enhancements planned for an upcoming version is to make the
transport layer used for communications with the RAC pluggable to allow
transports other than just sockets.  Exactly when this will be available is
still under discussion, I think.

If you're going to to work on a BEEP connection implementation, I'd like to
involve you in our discusssions so that what you do fits in with the
direction we're heading.  What you've described sounds like it is basically
in line with what we're doing, but we want to make the mechanism open-ended
with regard to the transport.
