[news.eclipse.tools.hyades] Re: Problems using Statistical Console

Hi,

This problem usually means that the agent isn't getting back any data (the
frequency counters are special as they control the agent and are not part of
the monitored counters). Do you see any error dialogs or logged errors in
the Error Log view? Also, can you tell me what information you enter to the
'New Trace' dialog when you start a new perfmon agent?

Some checks to make are:

1. Check that you have run your Agent Controller SetConfig.bat
2. Check that the Agent Controller is running on the agent controller host
you enter into the New Trace dialog
3. (Important) If you are using the remote registry facility, make sure that
the Agent Controller host has permissions to get remote counters from the
remote registry host.

Number 3 in this list is a very common cause. The way to make sure you
have permissions is to map a drive from the Agent Controller host to the
remote registry host.

E.g.
    If the connection information is:

        Connect to host: machine1
        Connect to remote registry: machine2

then machine1 must have permissions to access machine2's registry. To
get these permissions set up you need to map a drive on machine1 to a path
on machine2.

Once you have a drive mapped, open windows perfmon (Start button ->
Run -> 'perfmon.exe') and try to connect to machine2. If you can add it's
counters OK then you should have permissions.

I'll look into whether the documentation explains this and get it updated if
not.

cheers

Antony Miguel
