[news.eclipse.tools.gef] How to adapte the size of a figure to the size

I have read almost all about resizing in the forum and especially the 
tip to put -1, -1 in the constraints passed to the layout.

Impossible to create a simple figure containing a label figure with its 
size adapted to contain the text of this label.

Could somebody, please, give a full and complete explanation of how the 
size of a figure is determined and set at the different levels (model, 
editparts, views (figures)) ?
