[news.eclipse.tools.cdt] Extending Package explorer

Hi, 

what extension points do I need / where to begin, if I want to extend 
package explorer? 

(e.g. group specific file types to subproject-like structure, Cpp files, 
makefiles, resource files, ..)

I saw this implemented in cdt too, but I haven't found any further info
