Hi Manuel,
I am not sure if you where in the presentation. At the Eclipse Summit
we presented Riena for the first time and the scope, the goal and the
vision behind it. Riena was initiated afer we ran a large customer
project for multiple years that uses a similar application model
(distributed business components on client and server). The screen
shot is from that customer application which is that sense the vision
where we want to get too.
However the customer project is based on another framework that we
also developed but that framework is not Riena or code currently
coming in Riena. The customer project uses a different bean container
(Hivemind from Apache) and it uses Swing as Widget toolkit. Riena of
course will use Equinox/OSGi and SWT etc. as the widget toolkit. We
are currently in the process of recreating the UI using SWT but as
you can see from our project plan (http://www.eclipse.org/riena and
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Riena_Project#Riena_Project_Plan) this is not
yet available.
There is of course the chance that we come across the same problems
that you have :-).
Can you talk about what kind of applications your are doing ? Is it a
RCP application (standalone client) or more a Riena type of
application (client and server) ?
Anything you are missing in the current list of things we are
creating in Riena ? Any requirments, wishes (now is the time).
If there is anything let me know
regards
christian

Hi,
in the presentation ESE-2007-Riena.pdf there is a
screenshot of a sample application, see attachment.
I'm trying to emulate this look, but did not yet
succeed with the placement of the main menu. I can't
place anything (i.e. a banner) above it. How did you do this?
thanks,
Manuel
