[ews.eclipse.technology.rap] Numiton Migration Tools - an online RAP application
|
Hello everyone,
At my startup company we have just opened up for public access a RAP
application: http://migrate.numiton.com/
We are in the business of automated software migration and this is a
tool that visitors can use to browse migration samples (currently from
PHP to Java) and to also create their own snippets.
We considered all technology options and in the end we picked RAP for
the task. I want to thank everyone from the newsgroup for their direct
and indirect support while developing the application.
The application is in (real) beta state since there are still some
issues to iron out. It looks like a small application, but its the tip
of an iceberg (the migration system) and performance and scalability
issues might still bite us.
We used RAP 1.2.1, the free version of Instantiations SWT Designer for
GUI design (a great tool) and UrlRewriteFilter from tuckey.org for URL
rewriting. We deploy the application on Tomcat 6.0.18 running on an
Amazon EC2 small instance along with other Java web applications.
Overall we've been extremely pleased with RAP and, knowing its solid RCP
foundation, we see it as a serious contender for enterprise applications
development.
While publishing the application source code unfortunately isn't an
option for us, there is nothing special in the code itself. But if you
are unsure about the implementation specifics of some functionality,
feel free to ask either here or send me a private message.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Robert
