Hello again,
here is a new formulation of my question:
What should one do in order to run the upload demo without the rest of
the projects opened in the workspace. The rest of the projects are:
rwt.widgets.upload, commons-io and commons-fileupload.

What I did is that I found commons-io.jar and commons-fileupload.jar,
added them to a lib folder in the widget.upload project and removed the
dependencies. Then jarred the whole thing and added it to the upload.demo.

And on start it shows error:

Could not evaluate javascript response:
TypeError: org.eclipse.rwt.widgets.Upload is not a constructor

The console is full with "Active" and "Resolved" statuses.
I will attach the generated .jar file, if you wish to reproduce the problem.

I believe that I have some conceptual mistake, and I hope that I can
learn from it.

I'm sorry, this message is a mess. Again:

Just found out that command contribution works correctly, I first used a
controlContribution. It seems that control contributions are not
displayed in the business design, but I'm not sure whether I'M using it
correctly. However, to be more specific, I would like to add a
Label to the collbar dispalying the currently logged in User.

Any hints how I could do that?

My first approach was to add a controlcontribution and using a Label
there. For the standard desing, that worked, but i wasn't able to layout it.

controlContribution. However, to be more specific, I would like to add a

would like to add coolbar items. In the standard design, I see the Items

Hi Stuart,

note that most dialogs in Eclipse have some data set (eg. Workbench shell has the WorkbenchWindow, OpenView Shell has the OpenViewDialog, etc). Which shell do you get after closing the dialog? Maybe the title or the parent gives you any information what shell object you get at that point.

Maybe there is another shell that gets the Activate event instead of the WorkbenchWindow shell.

looking into the code, if the CurrentSelectionSourceProvider#updateWindows is called with non null argument, the object is a WorkbenchWindow. Anyway... without a snippet to reproduce it, we can't do much about it.

The code is not tested, since I removed the application specific party of 
our application. So all places where Object is used was a business 
specific class containing the data to present, but it should be quite 
simple to adopt.
The WordUtils class is from commons-lang and wraps the content to display 
at 100 characters.
