| [News.eclipse.technology.mylar] Re: Mylar install and update site |
I think I understand the concept of Update Sites. However I think on the Mylar page (http://www.eclipse.org/mylar/dl.php) it says that i.e.To test with the browser you should be using url like http://download.eclipse.org/technology/mylar/update-site/e3.3/site.xml
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/mylar/update-site/e3.3 is an Update Site. That should allow me in Eclipse 3.3M5 to enter that same URL into the field for a new remote update site and Eclipse would install Mylar right from there. It worked in the past and doesn't now. I believe the link is broken.
To test what is going on I used a Browser, but I am aware that this will not install any software.

Those pages never meant to be used with web browser. You should create update site using those urls from within Eclipse - Help / Software Updates / Find and Install... / Search for new features to install...

I liked to install Mylar from an Update Site. The page http://www.eclipse.org/mylar/dl.php seems to suggest that one exist for Eclipse 3.2 and one for 3.3. However entering i.e. http://download.eclipse.org/technology/mylar/update-site/e3.3 in my browser or in my eclipse returns "No web page found here".
I didn't want to give up so easily so I erased the version at the end of the URL http://download.eclipse.org/technology/mylar/update-site/ which shows a screenshot how you can install for THIS location in Eclipse. Yet again it does not work, probably because there is no site.xml at this URL location. Seems like a new problem that exists now for a few days. I am sure that this worked during the time of the Eclipsecon.
Any insight from where I can install Mylar ??
thanks christian campo
