Hi Mik,
as we started using Eclispe, we set up our complete source tree from CVS as one (big) project.
Later, I discovered working sets and thought it would be a nice way to focus on some parts of this
project, So I created several working sets which contained some sort of working context for
different task I was working on (or sometimes components). But it was difficult to add files or
packages quickly to the working set; in general my usage of working sets was not well supported by
eclipse.
At the W-JAX conference in Munich, I talked to Tobias Widmer from IBM Zurich about my usage of
working sets. He said to me that its quite uncommon to use them in this way. Its more ment to group
several projects.
As I started using Mylar, working sets sometimes badly interfered with Mylar:
Go Into working set: I could not select top level elements of the working set with Alt-click.
And if on the top level, every resource of the Mylar context, which also is in a working set, shows
up both in "Other projects..." and the working set (or more, if the resource is in more than one
set.) This clutters display and so I switching back to let top level elements be projects, not
working sets.
Do you have any idea how I could improve this situation?
One idea is to split the large project into several smaller component projects, but I guess I have
to define CVS modules to do that...
On the other hand, due to Mylar, the need for Working Set usage has decreased drastically!!! Thanks
alot for this.
Cheers, Jörg
