[news.eclipse.technology.ldt] Debugging DSLs: possible synergy with the Lepido project

Hi,

I'm the project lead of Lepido, a project aimed at providing tools for Apache Cocoon [1], currently in the proposal phase [2].

Cocoon is web application framework based on XML processing pipelines that uses a number of interpreted languages, either standard ones such as XSLT or ECMAscript, or specific ones like sitemap or jxtemplate.

An important goal of Lepido is to provide a debugger for these languages and we already have outlined some rough ideas of what the architecture of this debugger could be (see the "Architecture" and "Debugger" chapters in the proposal). Basically, the idea is to have a debugger UI talking through the network to a common debugger runtime that accepts language-specific drivers, thus providing a unified debugging view of the various interpreted languages that are used within an application.

Do you think this is something that could be of interest to LDT? If yes, we (the Lepido project) would be happy to collaborate with LDT on this subject.
