[news.eclipse.technology.ldt] Re: What is happening?
|
Glad you asked :).
Late last week we revved the LDT proposal to do several things:
* Incorporate feedback from this forum and others
* Remove agenda items already being pursued directly with other teams (JDT,
WTP)
* Add agenda items BEA plans to work on this year (xDSLs)
* Refine the remaining items to better match our current understanding
One thing that the Eclipse Foundation asked us *not* to do was embrace
research areas we aren't working on directly in our proposal. So while the
proposal is no longer Java-centric, it also isn't a generic playground for
all forms of language research in Eclipse. The Eclipse architecture council
will own the larger question of whether a toplevel "Languages" project
should be created, and if so, what it's charter and composition should be
with respect to incubating technologies.
BEA welcomes comments, questions, and suggestions on the revised proposal.
