[news.eclipse.technology.kepler] Re: more information

The overall goal is to provide a better way to manage the development process from within Eclipse. Basically, we're interested in providing:

1. better support for third-party build tools

2. better support for continuous integration servers and other related build-server concepts

3. a better way to maintain the infrastructure related to a project (wiki, issue tracker, SCM, etc.)

4. and finally, a better way to allow a developer to participate in multiple projects at once (more than just issue tracking + SCM; I'm talking about forum/mailing list conversations that cross-link, etc.)

One of the side effects of all this thought has been to also attempt to define a unified project model (mainly an API), that all sorts of tools can use as a common base of project information but can also add their own tool-specific configuration sections to. This is where the most discussion is happening currently within Kepler, I believe.

Systems like Gump would appear in the second item above.

Since you have some familiarity with Gump, would you be willing to put some time into this integration, once we have the framework to support it?

Cheers,

I should be able to, I am looking for a new OSS project.

But I guess I need to read the proposal again. What are we going to produce?
