Because we used JDO to access the Versant object database, and Versant
decided to end its partnership with Solarmetric. They bought Genie and
from then on JDO Genie was the supported way of accessing the database.
Indeed, if this has not been the case we would never have considered
such a move, especially since some features we relied on heavily
(fetchgroups that can be combined) was (and still is) missing from Genie.
