[news.eclipse.technology.higgins] Re: Why 'Higgins'?

Chris,

Thanks for asking.

Higgins is the name of the ?long-tailed? mouse. The trust framework can be used to enable new groups to self-organize and to aggregate across existing groups, or in other words to organize ?the long tail.? Recently there has been a lot of talk at conferences and in the press about the power of ?the long tail?. Most population distributions have a long tail whose needs historically couldn?t be met because it was too expensive. Digital technology allows the needs of ?the long tail? to be addressed efficiently. The Higgins mouse has a proportionally long tail.

We have added your question to our FAQ list in the Higgins Project of the Eclipse Website. See www.eclipse.org/higgins.

Cheers,

Mary
