[News.eclipse.technology.gmf] Is it possible to have the palette at the left side by default?

In a diagram, the default dockLocation is PositionConstants.EAST. It is possible to drag the palette to the left side. But re-opening the editor does not remember the previous dock location.
I was not able to find a way to change the default.
Any hints?
