[news.eclipse.technology.eilf] Re: Re-Think the Name of our Project

Hi all,

So, when thinking about it, what should be part of the name?
* INFORMATION because we are dealing with tons of information and try to mke sense of it
* UNSTRUCTURED information because this is the main focus as opposed to, say, classical data mining based on RDBMS
* MANAGEMENT because we truely want to manage the information
* LOGISTICS as an alternative to the above (maybe too much empolis-minded?)
* SEMANTICS because one of the main goals is to bring semantic web technology in as soon as the basic platform is up and running (in fact Ian Skerret is really keen on having the term "Semantic Web" in)
* ARCHITECTURE because we attempt to establish a new standard architecture
* FRAMEWORK or PLATFORM as alternatives to the above
* SEARCH maybe because this is what most people understand rather than the fairly abstract (and more general) term of information management
* ENTERPRISE or CORPORATE because we are aiming for the enterprise level
* more?
I would suggest also the following:
* OPEN - this one is obvious
* GRID - the primary target for EILF is actually a cluster environment, so why not use the word "grid" in its name?
* SERVICE - the framework is all about the services
* MODULE & COMPONENT - modules/components as parts of the framework
* STANDARD - since we want to establish the future standard and technological infrastructure
* TECHNOLOGY - as we are providing some kind of new technology
* ANNOTATION - we aim to provide some semantic annotation
* DATA - as alternative to information

This all expands our word palette to I-U-M-L-S-A-F-E-O-G-C-T-D :-)

Regards
Igor
