[news.eclipse.technology.eep] Re: Some examples

Well... you are already listed as a committer based on a previous email
exchange.

I don't think that all Eclipse examples necessarily belong in this
project. This project will provide a natural home for examples that span
projects (like something using ECF+Higgins+GEF+platform, for example).
That said, I have no issue with examples that showcase a single project.

I am concerned about taking on too much. There are many values listed in
the document that center around currency. The examples need to be
current to be useful and so maintenance will end up being a more
interesting problem than initial development. The proposal makes a
provision for archiving examples that are not maintained, so this may
not be as big a problem as I think it is.

Distribution depends. Examples that are applications should, IMHO, be
distributed as such (as well as being available in CVS). Examples that
are plug-ins or features should be distributed through an update site
(or p2). In keeping with the values, the way distribution is handled
should itself be an example. If p2 is the most appropriate way to
distribute an example, that's how we should do it.
