thank you for your suggestion. ECF will in fact enable the development
of multi-person chat applications, such as IRC. However, at the moment
we do not plan to provide an IRC client as one of the reference
applications (we will provide a non-IRC multi-chat application, though).
If you or anyone else would like to contribute IRC, we'd certainly
encourage that.
