This proposal sounds very interesting.

I was attending a talk about the "eclipse rich client platform" yesterday
and was impressed about the component based approach to develop
applications.

A communication / middleware layer for eclipse (however this might look
like) would be helpful. I would be glad to see any JMS extension points
(the ability to connect to a JMS system) ;-)

VOIP is also an (old) topic with (new) interest. Perhaps the comm
technology could also provide hooks here.

CSCW for development purposes, that's somthing I have not yet considered,
but for distributed dev teams, this sounds interesting.

The EComm Reference Applications show many interesting (perhaps too many)
different areas. I wonder if it is possible to provide a 'generic' layer
for all different kinds of communication technologies. Perhaps it is
better to focus on the most urgent topic. But what is it? Hopefully this
newsgroup directs the proposal to the right direction.
