[ews.eclipse.technology.desk] New proposal draft, status
|
I've created a wiki page so we can work on version 2 of the Desktop
Integration project proposal. Your input is solicited. Feel free to edit
the page directly or post comments here in the newsgroup. The URL is:

Bjorn Freeman-Benson has notified us that there is a backlog of new
proposals at eclipse.org. He writes: "It's going to be a while before I
can get to your proposal(s). I certainly do apologize for the delay (for
some of you the delay has been longer than for others), and I am working
through the backlog as fast as I can." So, we're not going to get it
approved by the end of this month as I had hoped.
On the other hand, this gives us time to refine the proposal and get
cooperation from other groups like JDIC. I've already been talking to
one of the JDIC project leads and response has been positive so far.
Currently I'm waiting to hear back on how we can resolve the license
mismatch between the two projects.
That doesn't mean our progress has to be held up waiting on these
administrative issues. If anyone has code to contribute and wants to get
started on that, I would be happy to set up an area on SourceForge that
we can use in the meantime. Regardless of the "official" status I'd
still like to have a goal of showing progress by having a useful
download quickly, let's say by the end of June. Discussions about what
should go into that are welcome. And as always, the success of the
project will depend on the contributions of code and time by people like
you.
