[ews.eclipse.technology.desk] Re: new project lead

Thanks Wayne, for your support and work on the project up to this point. In the coming weeks I'd like to focus on rebooting the proposal process, and getting the project approved so we can have a developer mailing list and a CVS area. I'd like to set a goal of getting that done by the end of May if the PMC is willing.

Next we need to put together some milestone plans, and start getting code in people's hands. I'd like to set a goal of getting some kind of download out within 30 days of project approval.

Everything will be fully transparent with open discussions here on the newsgroup and eventually on the development mailing list too. The current draft proposal is located here:

Please continue to post comments on this proposal in this newsgroup. Also, if you'd like to be on the interested parties list in the proposal then post a note here, including what contributions you hope to be able to make.

Thanks,
--Ed

Over the past few months my workload has increased significantly to the point that I am unable to adequately provide leadership to the DESK project. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Ed Burnette as my replacement for the DESK Project Lead. Ed has been an active promoter of Eclipse technology and information resources for several years. He and I share a common vision for how Eclipse extended to support desktop technologies can produce superior IDE and RCP solutions. Please welcome Ed with your support.
