COSMOS 1.0M3 is NOW available

*At a glance*
COSMOS 1.0M3 provides the following new features and improvements:

    * *Cross component enhancements*
          o Improved stability, including numerous bug fixes
          o Improved logging support
          o A new COSMOS User Guide and Developers Guide.
    * *SML support*
      Support for SML and SML-IF standards, version 1.1
      (http://www.w3.org/TR/sml/)
    * *CMDBf 1.0 support and infrastructure*
      The following new features that provide further support for the
      emerging Configuration Management Database federation (CMDBf)
      standard, based on the CMDBf 1.0 specification
      (http://www.cmdbf.org/ <http://www.cmdbf.org>):
          o MDRs now accept vanilla web service requests, using Axis2
          o Support provided for logging in MDRs
          o Messages and other user interface text externalized for easy
            translation
          o Example MDR provided for Aperi database, illustrating a JDBC
            interface
          o Provided integration between WTP Run on Server and the
            COSMOS UI in Eclipse, when using MDR Toolkit
    * *COSMOS web UI*
      The following enhancements have been made to the COSMOS web UI:
          o Ability to deploy built-in CMDBf queries with the COSMOS UI
          o The COSMOSUI is packaged with a library of examplar CMDBf
            queries
          o Ability to manage CMDBf queries (i.e. rename, delete, create
            queries)
          o Graph response can be visualized using a heirachetical view
          o Ability to display service metadata associated with MDR
            query service in the COSMOS UI
          o COSMOS UI usabilty improvements
          o Separate graph response view to visualize CMDBf response

The following features were provided prior to the M3 release:

* Features supporting the emerging Configuration Management Database
federation (CMDBf) standard, based on the CMDBf 1.0 specification
(http://www.cmdbf.org/ <http://www.cmdbf.org>):
o Framework for implementing CMDBf query and registration services
o Eclipse-integrated toolkit for creating data managers and
management data repositories (MDRs)
o Ability to register an MDR with the COSMOS framework
o Ability to register and deregister an MDR with a federating
CMDB, using the COSMOS UI
o Ability to query an MDR from the COSMOS UI, using query
builder driven by CMDBf metadata
o Example MDRs, including a simplistic one and one based on
the example data center
o Ability to visualize a CMDBf query response
o Support for deploying to J2EE environments (for example,
Tomcat)
* Tools that support systems management data conforming to the
Service Modeling Language (SML) and SML-Interchange Format
(SML-IF) standards (http://www.w3.org/Submission/2007/01/),
including SML and SML-IF document validation, SML-IF editing,
import of SML-IF documents and export to SML-IF documents
* Example data center described in SML format
* Standard APIs for accessing COSMOS data from heterogeneous clients
* Preset reports to visualize event and statistical data
* Data store to persist statistical information based on the
standard SDMX specification (http://www.sdmx.org/)

* Relational data store for the persistence of event information and
statistical information
* Web-based viewer composed of Web 2.0 gadgets to thoroughly examine
data from SML-IF documents
* Extension points to create complementary visualizations in the
form of Web 2.0 gadgets and BIRT reports
* Full test suite showing implementation examples


COSMOS 1.0 is currently targeted for a November 2008 release.
