I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I think the problem is that
we've been focused mainly on Eclipse 2.1.x. If you can use that version,
then things should go much more smoothly for you. It looks like we're
going to have to build a separate update site for Eclipse 3.0M9 onwards
(unless we can remove the dependency). In the meantime, if you want to
stay with Eclipse 3.0, I can only suggest you try running CME in
"self-host" mode (see item 5 in the platform section of the CME FAQ for
more details).
