Hi,
Always better to send a message to the mailing list. You will get a faster
response. Based on your recent bug reports, I'm guessing that you already
figured this out.
Currently, 1.6 is the main version being developed. Bugs are tagged for 1.7
only if they specifically relate to 1.7.
In general, though, don't worry too much about getting version numbers
right. They will get appropriately triaged by someone on the project.
