[news.eclipse.stp] Re: JBI Deployment

No, we don't have a JBI editor for STP at the moment.

It would be very interesting to have something like that
here, however :)

I would be also interested by such a tool.
A GMF editor to visualize the components on the nodes and configure
them... A tool like JASMINe [0] may also fit that need, I don't know yet.

My company started to work on Eclipse tooling [1] for the JBI ESB PEtALS
[2]. Though it is not part of STP, I signal it here because it is
licensed under EPL.

For the moment, it only consists in a set of wizards to generate service units and service assemblies (generate jbi.xml files, import required artifacts and create the JBI archives). One "interesting" point is that we rely on component XSD files to generate part of the wizard. We defined some kind of framework that could be reused to support other JBI platforms.

One extension I would like to explore when I get time is whether we could use XEF (from the STP Policy Framework) to also generate JBI editors (for the jbi.xml files - whose content vary from one JBI component to another). And maybe see if we could make XEF and "our rough" XSD framework closer (since we use XSD files to create widgets, perform validation on user inputs and fill-in the created jbi.xml file).

Clearly, Eclipse tools for JBI is something I'd like to push later in
2009, in STP maybe (that does not only depends on me). :)
