There are plenty of bugs about the error messages being hard to read, 
I'm sure another is not necessary :)  There is going to be work done in 
that area:

The other points 1 - 4 probably would make good bug reports, though you 
may want to try a recent 3.5 build to see if things are better there.

Try 3.5M4 which is out in the next day or so.  (I20081211-1908 is the 
current candidate for promotion to M4).
